M-Files March 2020 release

M-Files Online March '20 Update (20.3.8876.7)

Rollout via automatic updates begins on March 15th.

Duplicate documents detection

  • When you add a document, M-Files now tells you if there already are documents with the exact same content in the vault. You can then choose whether to add the document or not.
  • If a document has duplicates, it will get a Duplicate File Content entry. By expanding this node in the listing area, you can see a list of all documents that have the exact same content.
  • Note that document comparison happens at content level. For example, M-Files considers two documents with different titles and metadata but with the same content as duplicate files.

Set a primary file for multi-file documents

  • Administrators can now set a file type to act as the primary file type for multi-file documents via the configurations editor in M-Files Admin.
  • When a file type is set as primary for multi-file documents
    • the Preview tab of the multi-file document displays the preview of the primary file.
    • the icon of the specified file type is shown as the icon of the multi-file document.
    • double-clicking the object performs the default action of the primary file type.
  • Primary file types for multi-file documents are available in M-Files Desktop only.
  • Configuration instructions are covered in the M-Files user guide.

Support for multiple network folder locations in one network folder connection

  • To improve indexing performance, it is now possible to configure a single network folder connection to include multiple folder locations.
